2024 - December
Created for the Grand Rapids Art Museum's 'Carpe Diem' event to celebrate the Lee Alexander McQueen and Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous exhibition.
The bodice is hand cut, punched, stitched and riveted vegetable tanned leather in its natural color, with brass hardware, while the skirt is reworked from an existing piece.

The belt provides structure at the waist and secures the back of the skirt, while evocative buckles down the back show a peek of skin.
Layers of leather and stitching flow into the lines of the skirt, and two slits at the front allow for movement .

2024 = October
Created for the Member opening of Lee Alexander McQueen and Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous at the Grand Rapids Art Museum: my first-- and probably only-- look made nearly entirely from scratch.
Taking inspiration from both the iconic Fall/Winter 2006 'Widows of Culloden' collection for the top and skirt, and Spring/Summer 2009 for the corset belt, I used satin weave cotton for the top and petticoat, and repurposed a vintage wool kilt for the skirt.

The corset is hand cut, stitched, and dyed from vegetable tanned leather with brass hardware.
In addition to the corset, this look features a hand tooled leather accent at the collar.
